Film Festival Over :(

Well the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival ended on Sunday night but they certainly ended it with a bang. The world premiere of the fully Irish production 'Eden' took place in the Savoy. One of the best Irish films I've seen in a while Eden is a truly touching story with some stand out performances from an all Irish cast. There was of course a great after party for the end of the festival in The Sugar Club which was a great laugh.

Another brilliant film coming out in the next couple of weeks is 'The Other Boleyn Girl'. The Irish premiere was in Cineworld on Saturday night as part of the film festival so I went alng and wasn't disappointed. I'm not the biggest fan of period dramas but this one really worked. Scarlett Johannsen and Eric Bana pull off brilliant performances but Natalie Portman definitely steals the show as the bitchy sister!

All in all the film festival was better than ever this year with top class film premieres and lots of amazingly talented directors and actors were involved. Well done to Grainne and Johanna who put the programme together and to Jenny Shariff who sorted all my interviews and tickets! It was brilliant guys, well done!

U23D

U23D, the European premiere was in Cineworld last night. What an amazing movie! 3D has come a long way since those dodgey glasses back in the 90's!

They play all the hits in the movie which is taken from gigs the band did in South America. I hit the red carpet before I went in so tune into this weeks juice to hear what Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton had to tell me about filming the movie.

Meteor's to IFTA's... what a weekend!

Only in Dublin would nothing exciting happen for months and then the biggest music and movie awards, as well as the Jameson Film Festival all take place in one weekend! I can't complain though as it was a full on brilliant weekend.

Started on Friday when I interviewed a scruffy Colin Farrell as well as the nicest BFG in the land Brendan Gleeson for there new movie In Bruges. They were both really nice and it sounded like they had a great time filming it so tune into the Juice on FM104 for that and Take Six on Channel Six if you want to see the all new long haired grungey Colin Farrell.

Friday nite was the Meteors which was a bit of a disaster as I went with good friend Declan O'Rourke who was up for best male but he lost. Then Mark Noble lost which was annoying again! At least Charlese Theron was sitting in front of us and she looked AMAZING! Sitting beside her other half Stuart Townsend it kinda looked like he'd scored far out of his league! Fair play! Westlife also sat in front of us for 5 seconds to collect the best pop award for 8th time. It was the first award of the night so they collected it and left! Charlese and Stu took their seats after they left.

The after party was a cattle mart in Krystle. Great laugh but squashy. Luckily I got my hands on one of the the gold dust blue bands that get you into VIP on the nite. What a stupid idea! There were people nominated who couldn't get the stupid blue bands. Anyway it was busy up there. The Xpose girls where there, Shayne Ward who is the height of a footstool! TIny! Westlife... I think Mark Feely was kicked out for some bust up, and loads of other people around town and blaggers like myself! Great nite.

Saturday was premiere of There Will Be Blood. Brilliant film and had a chat to Wicklow resident Daniel Day Lewis. Really nice guy but talks at minus 2 miles and hour! Really slowly, but really interesting and amazing actor. Barry Mcguigan was there too with his daughter who is an up and coming actor. She told me he makes great mash potatoes. Hardly worth months training on Hells Kitchen for a bit of mash! He's a lovely guy and a great friend of Dan Day Lewis. In fact he said he'd flow in as Dan invited him personally.

Tried out new Michelin star restaurant Mint after movie on sat. The food is delicious!!! We did the taster menu so got to try a few things. The scallops with Duck confit is to die for and the sea bass with sardines in heaven on earth. Of course Dylan McGrath lived up to his image of the new Gordon Ramsey. A woman at the next table was served a balanced cracker on her foie gras. The cracker fell off as waiter put down plate and Dylan saw it all happen through the window of the kitchen. War broke out, the waiter had to come back and snached the plate from the woman who insisted it was fine. A new foie gras was brought for her by a different waiter and we didn't see the original waiter again!!! Now thats dramatic! OTT or what? Another thing that was ott was the bill! But special occasion and to be expected in a place like that.

Sunday was the IFTA's so I put on my penguin suit and headed for the Gaiety with my mic. Got loads of interviews from Kathryn Thomas, Lorraine Keane, Bo Derek, Dominic Purcell (Wentworth's bro in Prison break), Rene Russo, oh and only Mel 'the man' Gibson! Check out The juicy bits on FM104 all this week for those. After-party was in Shelbourne so was another late one.

What a weekend! Was 100% brilliant from start to finish. Weekends are gona seem boring forever now!!!
